THE SUNDAY SERMONETTE – BITTERNESS.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger,” says the Good Book. Bitterness and anger are a lethal concoction of human emotions. Like an out-of-control vine, they can wrap around your heart, squeezing the love out of it and plunging you into the depths of depression. They can also lurk, waiting for the right moment to attack.
Suddenly, your anger might burst forth–harsh words spewed out that crush the spirit of those hearing them. Then, anger’s soul mate, bitterness, creeps in. Or your anger might be embedded deep in your heart—a long, dormant volcano simmering, waiting, silent, white-hot, and bubbling.
Whether it’s sudden or simmering, your anger WILL eventually erupt–hurting others, hurting yourself. Please don’t let anger and bitterness control your life. Learn to let go of whatever keeps the boiling lava of rage inside you alive, melting away the beauty of your God-given soul.
Ponder this and go forth.
