THE SUNDAY SERMONETTE TUMBLEWEEDS
The Sunday Sermonette June 4, 2023. Growing up in the late 50s and early 60s, I watched many TV Westerns like Gunsmoke and Wagon Train. I was always fascinated when the camera panned the desert and tumbleweeds came rolling by. Like Cowboys, Indians, and buffalos, those dried-up tangles are icons of the Old West, and they amble along wherever the wind takes them, with no rhyme or reason.
Are you a tumbleweed? Ambling along? Living life with no rhyme or reason? Father God did not create you to be a tumbleweed. In His love, He created you to put down strong, deep roots with family and friends, but most importantly, with Him.
Tumbleweeds are nothing more than twisted balls of dead foliage. You are much more to Father God than that! If you’re tumbling along in life, trying to find yourself, stop tumbling and talk to God. He’ll help you find your path in life. And if you do, as the old song says, you’ll not be “Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.”
Ponder this and go forth.
