This and That – The Signpost Up Ahead.

It’s midsummer, muggy and hot! The new school year’s just around the corner and these languid summer days will soon be a thing of the past. So too will be that most ubiquitous of all summer delights–the family vacation. Where did you go this summer?

Europe, on a slow cruise down the River Danube? Alaska, watching fuzzy brown bears eating dandelions on the side of the road? Or was your vacation a simpler one, visiting family or old friends from days gone by?

There’s one destination though that should be avoided at all costs. It’s the place where good ideas go to die. Been there have you? I have. Big plans were made. Wheels set in motion. Gears were grinding. Then, suddenly, I found myself arriving in a place that was not on my intended itinerary–that place where good ideas go to die.

My big plans, intriguing thoughts, and fascinating projects were forgotten in a hazy mist comprised of the usual suspects:  I can’t do this…I’m too old…I’m too busy…It’s too difficult…I have no help…

You won’t find this vacation destination on any map. It won’t be listed with your local travel agent. And if you find yourself there, grab the next Greyhound out of town. You’ll thank yourself later! One last observation: If you’re traveling and see a signpost up ahead that says, Twilight Zone, don’t go there either! Been there. Done that too! 😉
