Miss Pete! Happy 100th Birthday to you, dearest lady!

When Miss Pete was born in 1923, Walt Disney founded the Walt Disney Company. TIME magazine was printed for the 1st time. The top song of the day was band leader Paul Whiteman’s “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers.” The Hollywoodland sign was created. Oranges were fifty cents a dozen. Gas was 12 cents a gallon. Hank Williams and Charlton Heston were born. Warren G. Harding was president.

Miss Pete always wanted to live to be 100, and she made it! Many people ask how she made it this far. “I always tell them it’s all about clean living!” She and my dear mother were best friends and had been in the same Sunday School Class for 40 years or more. I remember them coming from Sunday School, holding hands like schoolgirls, giggling and laughing about something, and loving each other’s company.

Miss Pete’s favorite movie is “Gone With The Wind.” She and her family lived in Atlanta when the movie premiered in 1939 in that city. She saw it with her mother and met the cast at an after-show party. That is one of my favorite stories that she tells.

Miss Pete, may God bless you with many more years so you can continue to bless our lives with your love, kindness, and bright smiles.

All my love, Andy ❤
