Dispatches from Home – Camille 54 Years Ago.

On this date, fifty-four years ago, at exactly 9:28 p.m., the electricity failed at 1007 Wilson Drive. When it was restored three weeks later, the Mississippi Gulf Coast of my childhood was nothing more than a sepia-toned memory. Lest we forget those 250 souls, who perished in the storm’s savage winds and surging water, along with the thousand’s of valiant souls who survived to rebuild our dear Mississippi Gulf Coast. ❤

These boats washed onto shore from the harbor. Walking around them, looking up at their superstructures high above, while the whispering winds danced around them, is acid-etched in my memory.
No gas at the Texaco Station for this new Studebaker.
Dear old Wilson Drive after Camille.
