This and That – Not plaster, bricks, or pilasters!

Dear family and friends: Katrina, fifteen years ago today! Lest we forget. In national news and papers, it seems First Baptist Church Gulfport was a favorite site for reporting.

I was interviewed three times by roving news teams. Once by a Houston TV station, once by a CNN team, and finally by a team from Jackson’s WLBT. The CNN interview was not far from FBC. I’ve never seen any of these interviews…probably a good thing.

I have so many fond memories of FBC’s sanctuary. It was truly a spectacular place of worship. However, of all the lessons that Katrina taught me, the greatest was this — once we regathered as a congregation, it was happy, loving faces, faces that I’d known all my life, that let me know I was home once again…not plaster, bricks, or pilasters.
