Dispatches from Home – The Grieving Angel.

In this race called Life, we often find ourselves dashing about, hither and yon, in search of those things we think will make a difference in our lives. And in our mad dash, we often fail to remember that in the end, a dash of another kind will be the only thing that denotes our lives–the dash on our tombstones.

That simple dash, chiseled into marble or granite, will represent the mountaintops and the valleys of our lives and that which we did to improve the world or that which we did to increase its problems. The next time you see a tombstone, ponder not so much the name inscribed nor the dates of birth and death.

Ponder the simple dash and the life it represents because one day, someone will look upon your tombstone and perhaps ponder the same.
