Dispatches from Home – Mr. Trump and the Nazis.
Greetings! This makes for interesting reading, but I think this man is like many others on the Left: a fearmonger. Mr. Wassermann wrote “that the entire Nazi ideology is in place and wonders how far it will go here. We can hope that our government of checks and balances will be more resistant than the Weimar Republic was. Don’t count on it.”
Oh! Really? Have the Nuremberg Race Laws been enacted? Has Mr. Trump rewritten “Mein Kampf,” available at your local Barnes and Noble? Is the Trump Ideology being taught in our schools and colleges? I think not. Mr Wassermann also states, “We are all familiar with Trump’s remarks against all Muslims and all Mexicans.” ALL Muslims and ALL Mexicans? I think this ol’ boy better check his facts. I don’t remember Mr. Trump using ALL in his talks about Muslims and Mexicans.
He stated that Mr. Trump is attempting to control the Media. The Media? The “liberal” Media that did everything in its power to elect Mrs. Clinton? Ha…that’s a laugh! I really think people like this old fellow are just are “crazy” as Mrs. Clinton’s “basket of deplorable.”
This is America, not Wiemar Germany, where the Nazis were the culmination of a hundred years of previous antisemitism and the extreme nationalism that was a result of the Allies and the Treaty of Versailles. It took the Nazis almost 20 years to sway the German Volk to elect Hitler, Chancellor of Germany.
I am willing to give Mr. Trump the benefit of the doubt, just as I did with President Obama. We survived eight years of President Bush and eight years of President Obama. We–as Americans–can certainly survive four years of President Trump.
Later Holding-Our-Breath-Gaters! (Update. Come January 2025, we’ll see who’s correct. Mr. Wassermann or the American People who, by a huge majority and the Electoral College, elected Mr. Trump once again. Time will tell.)
