This and That – Update on Mom.

Unless things change tomorrow, Mom’s being transferred to Lake View Rehab Center. Her Memorial doctor said Mom was a pretty good candidate for some not-to-difficult rehab. Mom’s still very weak and still has a bad cough that is not viral, so it can’t be treated with drugs. It’s just gotta run its course, so say the doctors.
She can hardly walk and hardly eats. I try to get her to eat, but it’s hard. The rehab is less strenuous at Lake View than at Memorial’s rehab. Hence the reason for her going to Lake View. I’m not sure how Mom will react to all of this. Once the rehab phase ends, Mom’s coming home to hospice care.
Please keep her in your prayers. This is but the beginning of a bittersweet voyage for us both on uncharted seas. Thank you all for your kind comments, thoughts, and prayers! They are truly appreciated!
Big hug.

At the last minute, I changed my mind and brought her home. It was a “God-Thing.” He knew she was about to be called Home. Had she been at Lake Wood, she would have died alone. I would never have forgiven myself if that would have been the case. Thank you, Father God, for your kindness in calling my dear mother home with me at her bedside, holding her frail, warm hand.)
