The Friday Funnies – Grand Opera in D’Lo.

Meanwhile, in other opera news, the D’Lo Opera Society will present its reworking of Wagner’s famed Der Ring des Nibelungen. The Society’s new title is Der Ring des Bubba.

Bubba will be played by Lockwood Peckenpaugh III, who thrilled local opera lovers with his rendition of “There are Fairies in My Garden” at the Fall Hog Killing Festival, where he was assisted by the musical talents of Hank the Plank and his Two-by-Fours.

Brunhilda will be played by none other than Sister Bertha Bohunkus Brown. She is fondly remembered at the Festival for her rendering of “Spring is Bustin’ out all Over,” which took on a whole new meaning due to a costume malfunction. That’s a memory we wish we could all forget. But I digress.

Tickets are on sale now at the Hotel NoTell in downtown D’Lo. Get ‘em while they last.
