The Sunday Sermonette – Tentacles.

In today’s world, trouble wraps itself around us with vicious tentacles. Earthquakes. Horrific tornadoes. Wars. Fatal illnesses. Personal trials and tribulations. The senseless murder of children and adults.
In the Old Testament, the Israelites were also hounded by trouble. They often turned to God to help solve their problems, but it was too late. They had relied upon their own understanding and waited too long. Judgment was upon them.
Don’t we, as individuals, do the same thing? Often, we wait until we are in deep trouble before turning to God. By then, though, the tentacles of our actions are writhing around us, grasping, ripping the very breath of life from us. Do you ask for God’s help only as a desperate last resort?
Ponder this and go forth.
