Dispatches from Home – A Summer Long Ago.

It’s the early 1980s, a billowy summer’s day as we steamed out of Gulfport’s harbor aboard the elegant, old yacht, the Francis Fayard.

It’s been so long ago, I don’t remember the young lady’s name. Watch that hand, Mister! (LOL!) However, it appears we’re having a good time, as evidenced by our smiling faces and the wind blowing through our hair.

Big hug, y’all!

The Frances Fayard was a motor yacht with an overall length of 80 feet. The yacht’s builder was the Mathis Yacht Building Co. from the United States, which launched the Frances Fayard in 1923. She was designed by John Trumpy. She cruised the Mississippi Gulf waters for years until she was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
