This and That – A Few Words from Job Jr.

One month ago, our in-ground pump, which I use to water our lawn, rusted out and had to be replaced. About that time, lightning struck a towering pine tree in our neighbor’s yard, taking out our air conditioning, my answering machine, and my computer. The a/c was up and running by late afternoon the next day; the computer had to be replaced; the answering machine is on my “to-do” list.
On top of that, my new car (new to me) starts doing the ditty-wah-ditty as my sweet Granny from D’Lo would say – that little ordeal prompted the purchase of a new set of Michelin tires. And completing this little saga is this – a week ago Thursday, I’m sitting in ye ol’ favorite chair enjoying one of my favorite movies, Sunset Boulevard, when I bit down on a juicy bit of summer-ripened peach, and went “OUCH!” The next morning, it’s off to ye ol’ dentist I go. He looks in my mouth and says, “I’ve got good news and bad news…” “Well, Doc,” says I, “let’s have the good news first.” The Doc says, “We’ve got plenty of novocaine.” “Novocaine?” says I. “So what’s the bad news…” “Root canal,” says the Doc.
Now, I’m sitting here listening to the latest on the incoming storm, thinking…just came to me Job Jr. LOL!!!! Life is what it is…life! And we must all persevere as best we can. I’ve made all storm preparations – water, food, battened down the hatches, and anchored my baby oak tree as best I could. That puppy cost me a thousand simoleons, I’ll have you know. Gotta look after it as best I can.
There’s Mom. I’m never sure what she does or does not comprehend. Not sure if she understands that a storm – not a Camille – but a storm still the same will soon be lapping at our front door. But if I know her, she’ll do her bit, and like us all, persevere under adversity. One interesting bit of info: This afternoon around 2-ish, a co-worker dashed into my office and said, “Come quick! Come look!” I did.
And to my amazement, there was a perfect rainbow around the sun. I’m telling you…a perfect..round…rainbow! I’d never seen the likes of such. Soooo, as we are sucked into the mouth of the storm, when the rains begin to pound like pebbles against the house, and the winds lacerate
Until we meet again, may Father God protect you and yours. Big hug.
