Dispatches fom Home – It’s Been One of Those Days and Nights!

Greetings!

Ever have one of those days and nights?

Yesterday, wow, a great day! Got the yard in tiptop shape. Shopped for the Outlet Mall Christmas display. Had a delightful supper compliments of the Half-Shell Oyster House. Came home and watched one of my favorite movies, “A Streetcar Named Desire.”

Then I brushed my teeth. Said my prayers. And off to the land of Wynken, Blynken, and Nod I went. Alas, the good day turned into a bad night. Around 1:00 a.m. I awoke with a start, grabbed my side, and said to myself, “Self, this feels like a kidney stone comin’ on!” After an hour or so of waiting in pain, wondering whether or not to tough it out as I’d done in times past, I called the ambulance, and off to Memorial Hospital I went. Thankfully, the morphine kicked in, and the pain vanished. The ER staff did a myriad of tests. Conclusion—a small stone that has not passed. Oh! Happy day. Something to give my life meaning again.

I got home at about 7:30 a.m. thanks to my dear friend, David Delk. Ain’t life a kick in the pants! Some days you’ve got it by the tail…some nights it’s got you by the tail.

Later, You-Don’t-Want a Kidney-Stone Gaters!
