Dispatches from Home – Is it Goodbye or Is it Au Revoir?

Greetings! What a swell time was had tonight as many of dear Juliana’s friends wished her a fond au revoir. She’s moving to Tennessee in March and will be missed by all those who have had the privilege of acting with her, enjoying her company, but most of all, calling her friend. To commemorate this special farewell, I wrote a poem for her titled “Is it Goodbye or Is it Au revoir?”
Dearest friend, the time has come for us to depart,
But heavy farewells need not weigh on our heart.
Au revoir, dearest friend, but it’s not goodbye,
Even though we may depart with a long, teary sigh.
Though days may stretch and seasons change in vain,
The laughter and love we shared will always remain.
Our paths may diverge, as new journeys begin,
Yet friendship’s anchor will hold deep from within.
In each twilight’s whisper and each dawn’s golden light,
I’ll think of you kindly, till reunions delight.
Till we meet again, in the dance of tomorrow,
Carry my smile to soften your sorrow.
Farewell for now, but not for long,
For friendship is steady, heartfelt, and strong.
Like rivers that meet, then lovingly bend,
Remember, it’s not goodbye, it’s au revoir, my friend,
As the sun dips low, painting our memories in gold,
Our laughter and tears, on parchment scrolled.
Though our paths may split in sunset’s gentle gleam,
The moments we shared, our memories can redeem.
Because hearts don’t forget where love has been,
Farewell’s not an ending, but where we begin.
So turn the page softly, with hope evermore,
We’ll meet again, if not here, then on Heaven’s bright shore.
