Dispatches from Home – At Sea on the Brilliance of the Seas.

Greetings! On Board the S.S. Brilliance of the Seas 11:08 pm.

There’s a song from the 30s that begins with the lyrics, “When you come to the end of a perfect day.” And what a perfect day it’s been!

A tasty breakfast at 8 am, followed by a leisurely day on a private beach in Cozumel. Fun. Sun. Sand. Crystal azure blue waters. Coral shells. And a delicious late lunch. Then, some shopping for my “children” back home.

Walking back to the ship, with the warm sea breeze dancing around us and the birds singing overhead, thoughts of a hot bath, a wee nap, and the upcoming evening dinner swirled around in my head. My nap over, I dressed for dinner.

As Rhonda, Wayne, James, and I dined in the magnificent gold and white dining room, outside the huge round windows, draped in swaths of brocade material, the Brilliance slowly pulled away from the pier. The sun danced on the water, old Cozumel drifted by, and we sailed into the moonlit night.

I sit here typing this little dispatch while listening to the distant throb of the engines. The Brilliance gently rocks as I nod, and remember the young Down syndrome girl I danced with in the multi-storied atrium…the ending of our perfect day.

Big hug, y’all!
