The Friday Funnies – “Applause” the Musical and Moi.

For your consideration, I present Duane, in all his flaming glory, seen here in Gulfport Little Theater’s 1980 summer musical, “Applause!” The musical is based on the 1950 film “All About Eve.”

Duane is dancing atop a wooden spool while being wheeled around the stage, belting out a song. Channeling both Nijinsky and Baryshnikov, night after night, he leaped flat-footed from the stage floor three feet into the air, landing atop the wooden spool.

The young man’s expression says it all: “Wowee! Duane did it again…and didn’t fall flat on his face!

Today, even if you do fall flat on your face, get back up, smile, have a good laugh, and start again. Never give up and never give in. In the end, you’ll be glad you did.
