Dispatches from Home – One Month Ago Today.

One month ago, February 22, 2019—to the day—God called my dear mother Home. One month ago, the skies were clogged with misty fog and dripping rain. Today though, the skies are bathed in glorious blue, the morning dew glistening on springtime azaleas and roses.

In the past month, many of you have asked how I am doing. To answer that question, I turn to John Denver’s song: “Some days are diamonds, some days are stones. Sometimes the hard times won’t leave me alone. Sometimes a cold wind blows a chill in my bones. Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.”

Your calls, visits, cards, and flowers have been an integral part in helping turn the stones into diamonds. My daily devotional for today speaks about friendship. The prayer was this: “Father, thank you for putting loyal and encouraging friends in my life.” And for that, I’m eternally grateful.

Later, Encouraging Gaters!
