The Sunday Sermonette – Falsely Accused.

It was a lovely spring afternoon when a dear friend called, telling me to check a post on a popular media site. I did and was shocked. An individual, whom I knew only through other friends, had attacked my reputation, and that person’s words cut even deeper due to their posting on a public platform. The words were hurtful, painful lies. My blood boiled. How would I rise above such audacious slander?

In my anger, I considered calling my lawyer, pressing charges, and letting that person know I would not stand for such lies to be bandied about. To clear my mind, plot a plan, and calm my anger, I took a walk. The beach beckoned. A crisp spring breeze danced around me. The sweet smell of magnolias filled the air. As I stood on the seawall, the vast Gulf, in all its tawny-brown beauty, gently lapped the shoreline. The horizon was draped in a billowing curtain of towering clouds.

It was then I heard a still, small voice whisper, “You are not alone, I am here. Cling to me, and we’ll get through this together.” My mind then recalled that throughout the Bible, numerous individuals had been falsely accused, including Joseph, David, Daniel, and, most importantly, Jesus. During His trial, He was subjected to false accusations by the religious leaders of the day, which included claims of blasphemy and rabble-rousing. But despite the injustice, He remained steadfast, fulfilling His mission and teaching the importance of patience and trust in Father God.

The stories in the Bible about false accusations remind us that facing lies and hurtful words is a test of our faith, character, and perseverance. These biblical accounts underscore that honesty matters, that deceit has consequences, and that the righteous will be vindicated by the justice of Father God. The main message is clear: as Believers, we are called to respond to such trials with integrity, patience, and trust in Father God’s protection rather than seeking revenge.

Additionally, the Bible assures us that false witnesses will not escape consequences and that Father God defends the innocent. We are to trust Him and not seek our own vengeance. When you are falsely accused, and feelings of sorrow and anger arise, remember that Father God’s love is constant. Stand on His truth, leave the outcome to Him, and rely on His justice when you face falsehood.

Ponder this and go forth.
