Okay! Who’s the wiseacre who deposited two brand-new pairs of white Chaps shorts on my doorstep? Was it you, Ned, due to your aversion to my three pairs of 20-year-old, ubiquitous white shorts?

‘Cause you know me. February snow? White shorts. October bonfire? White shorts. Formal dinner on a cruise ship? White shorts. Sunday afternoon Christmas decorating? White shorts. Whoever did leave them, remember I don’t check the weather so much as dare to march to a different fashion drummer.

So, when everyone is bundled up like North Pole aficionados, there I’ll be, calves out, looking like I’m on my way to a yacht party—my wardrobe suggesting either eternal optimism or a long-running feud with long pants.
