DISPATCHES FROM HOME: Father’s Day June 21 2020

In the summer of 1958, the Kalberg’s took a vacation to Silver Springs, Florida. While there, Mom packed us a huge lunch and off we went for a picnic. There’s Pop sporting some cool sunglasses while eating a delicious homemade bacon and tomato sandwich. And there’s me hugging a cold, coke-a-cola in a small bottle. Mom took the picture. Life was good! Pop, it’s been 27 years since you were promoted to Glory. I miss our talks about your childhood growing up in Depression-era Chicago and your time as a Marine during WWII. Miss our conversations about your time in the Merchant Marines. Miss our discussions about the Titanic–thank you for introducing that famous ship to me. Most of all, though, I just miss you! But one day soon…
