The Sunday Sermonette – Help Me to Sing.

    

     When I wander where I shouldn’t, please, Father God, help me to sing – Come home, come home, you who are weary come home. Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling, calling, O sinner, come home!

     When I ponder the world and its madness therein, please, Father God, help me to sing – Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! O, what a foretaste of glory divine!

     When I ache due to the passing of family and friends, please, Father God, help me to sing – When we all get to Heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be

     When Life throws me a curveball, please, Father God, help me to sing – When upon Life’s billows you are tempest-tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

     When I see myself for who I really am, please, Father God, help me to sing – Why should my Savior to Calvary go? Why should He love me so?

     When I’m weary of Life, please, Father God, help me to sing – What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

     When I feel the sting of lies and misdeeds, please, Father God, help me to sing – When peace like a river, attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know, It is well, it is well, with my soul.

      When I see injustice, crime, and hate in the world, please, Father God, help me to sing – I need Thee, oh, I need Thee, Ev’ry hour I need Thee. Oh, bless me now, my Savior, I come to Thee.

     When I want to cry, please, Father God, help me to sing – When the days are dark and grim. No one is so near, so dear as Jesus. Cast Your every care on Him.

    When I want to give up, please, Father God, help me to sing – God will take care of you through ev’ry day, o’er all the way. He will take care of you, God will take care of you.

    When I have failed my family and friends, please, Father God, help me to sing – I must tell Jesus all of my troubles. He is a kind, compassionate friend. If I but ask Him, He will deliver, Make of my troubles quickly an end.

     When I see Death hovering at the door, please, Father God, help me to sing – Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee! E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me, still all my song shall be, nearer my God to thee!

     And when I know that Death’s come to call, please, Father God, help me to sing – Abide with me, fast falls the eventide…Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes, shine through the gloom and point me to the skies, Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee. In Life, in death, O Lord, abide…with…me.

     Ponder this and go forth.
